Babies according to Parker

Let's see if I can do this story justice. We were driving home from Stephen's softball game on Thursday night when Parker out of the blue proceeded with a line of questioning. "How do Mommy's and Daddy's make babies?" "How come Mommy's have babies in their tummies sometimes and not other times?" I sat quietly and waited for Stephen to take over. Stephen very nicely dodged the real answers and simply said "Heavenly Father decides when Mommy's and Daddy's that love each other will have a baby." Parker then said without hesitation "You and Mommy need to stop loving each other so much!" Stephen and I could not stop laughing, he was so serious and it was so funny!

Last Day of 1st Grade

Josie came to me this morning and asked "Mommy, is it okay if I am excited and a little sad about today?" I said "Sure, Why?" She said "I am excited because I don't have to go to school for 78 days, but I am sad because I want Mrs. Neal to be my teacher forever." I remember having these same feelings when the school year would come to a close. Change is sometimes hard! Josie has really enjoyed having Mrs. Neal for a teacher, she is fun, young, energetic and kind. When I went to her with my concerns that Josie wasn't being challenged, she listened and helped come up with ideas to give Josie more ways to learn and grow! Thanks Mrs. Neal for a great year!

Father and Sons

Parker was so excited when his Daddy told him they would be going camping for Father and Sons, he counted down the days. They went to a church owned camp up in Big Bear. Stephen said they had amazing food thanks to Bro. Kent, it sounded very yummy! They went on hikes, tried to fish and froze their little tails off at night. Our sleeping bags were at my parents so we sent them with blankets, well I guess it got down to 27 degrees and they froze all night. Stephen didn't sleep one wink and wanted to go find a hotel.

31

Another year older and wiser too, Happy Birthday to Me! This morning at 6:30 the kids came into our room very excited to give me my birthday present. I opened it up and who would have guessed it was exactly what I wanted, a black ipod nano. I say who would have guessed sarcastically, because I have been dropping not so subtle hints for months. Josie also wants an ipod so she is besides herself with joy that mommy put her favorite song “Love Story” on the new ipod. After the ipod excitement, my mother and sister in law surprised me by bringing me breakfast. My amazingly crafty creative mother in law also gave me these amazing roses that she made out of money. WOO-HOO.
Later, after the boys left for Father and Sons, Josie and I went to my parents where we had dinner at Buca di Beppo and spent the night. Dinner was heavenly, I love Italian! I also had been greatly wishing to watch Bride Wars, so my mom and I rented it and watched it after Josie went to bed. We had a few good laughs and I thought it was kind of a cute movie. All in all it was a very good day!
