Grandma Jullie's Birthday!

It was my mom's birthday this past Wednesday so we made her this lovely 51 out of strawberry rice crispy treat. She also wanted bread and gravy for breakfast, I had never made it before, but for her I had to give it a try. I made way too much gravy but it did turn out decent. Happy Birthday to the best Mom around! (at least I think so!) We tease my mom that she takes the worst photos, she is always making weird faces, eyes half opened etc. However I think she looks pretty good in the top photo. Way to take a good picture mom!

My Poor Baby!!

Parker started getting blotches on his leg around Tuesday, I thought it was a heat rash from going swimming on Monday. However, it got worse and worse, and boy was I wrong! Everyday I looked on-line to see if I could figure it out. Nothing seemed to make sense, it wasn't really itching him and he wasn't complaining. It finally got so bad that I took him to the doctor yesterday, Friday June 20th. The diagnosis was SHINGLES!! My poor little guy, who ever heard of a four year old getting Shingles? I thought it only happened to older adults!

Mommy's New Do

I finally did it! I have been talking about chopping my hair for quite sometime, and today was the day! I have been jealous of Josie's cute bob haircut for awhile. It's summertime, so I went for it! So far I am amazed that I am not freaking out more about the loss of my locks. I hope I continue to like it!

THANK YOU Bishop and Sis. Meyer

Parker and Josie received a special package in the mail today! It was a letter and sticker book from Bishop and Sister Meyer (our bishop and wife from Nebraska). Parker ran around the house saying "That was so nice of them! That was so nice of them!" I would have to agree! It is good to know that someone in Nebraska still loves us! Josie is now determined to have Sister Meyer as a pen pal, so Sister Meyer watch out. Thanks so much for thinking of us and we miss you too! We think you should come to Disneyland sooner than later!

30,30,30

I figure if I write 30 enough times maybe I will get used to the idea that today I turned the big 3-0. This birthday has been a difficult one for me. I have dreaded it for some years now. When I was younger, 30 always sounded so old, and now here I am! Even though my kind friends and family have tried to tell me that 30 is the new 20, I am not buying it! I guess all that really matters is that Stephen is almost four years older.
I actually did have a good day. I had my very first professional massage, which was quite the interesting experience. After the massage, two of my wonderful sister-in-laws took me out to lunch to a tasty Chinese Restaurant. Later that evening we had a party at my in-laws house. My sweet mother in law got IN-N-OUT hamburgers for everyone since she knows that I adore IN-N-OUT. The kids played in the sprinklers and had a great time. We finished off the night with a rice crispy treat cake with frosting, Thanks Julie!

A Fun But Busy Day

I won't bore anyone with the details; I will sum it up rather quickly for posterity sake. In the morning Stephen helped someone move, my grandma, the children and I ran errands. Then Josie, Grandma Patti and I went to my old high school's production of Beauty and the Beast. The costumes and sets were amazing! Belle was amazing; she will probably be on Broadway someday. Gaston, was also adorable with a good voice. Sorry to say, the Beast however was a different story, he gets two thumbs way down. I cringed every time it was his turn to sing, poor guy!
When we got home from Beauty and the Beast poor Parker was bored out of his mind and Stephen suggested that we go up to the mountains for a fire. We had a great time, cooking hot dogs and roasting marshmallows. Stephen took the kids on a little hike and a dog that just wanted to play catch with him terrorized Parker. I can't believe how afraid of dogs he is! I am not an animal lover but this is getting ridiculous!

Tea Time

It was a rainy day and Josie got it in her head that she wanted to have a tea party. Grandma Jullie had an adorable tea set that she had never used, so she was all for it! Before school Josie made invitations and gave one to GG and Grandma Jullie. After school Josie and I made chocolate chip cookies and hot chocolate. Then it was time to set the table and WOW was I impressed! Josie put out the cups, napkins and then added place cards and table talker questions for everyone to answer. She even added a centerpiece, which was her art project from art masters. Josie really is one of the most creative people I know! Not only creative but she is also a great hostess. It came out during the tea that Josie was doing all this to practice for her Aunt Julie's bridal shower. Aunt Julie had casually said that Josie could be her maid of honor when she gets married someday and Josie took it to heart. In the future Josie will make an awesome maid of honor and she will throw the best bridal shower anyone has ever seen!!
